Living at Mellifont
Here living at Mellifont we are flexible with each persons different routines, they choose what they want to do in the home and when, from when they want to wake and get up to relax and go to bed.
Each residents room is of a generous size, furnished, carpeted, tastefully decorated and most have en-suite facilities and easy wheelchair accessibility. Baths and hoist lift are provided in the home as well as a passenger lift; allowing level access to the first floor. All rooms are equipped with a fast response call alarm system should assistance be required day or night.
Mellifont Abbey has undergone an extensive refurbishment programme by Lee and his team over the past 12 months to ensure that the quality of our residential accommodation remains at a very high standard. As part of this ongoing refurbishment and due to popular demand for rooms at Mellifont Abbey, we plan to add 5 more new luxury rooms to the home in summer 2015 and then after refurbish older rooms and also the TV lounge and Dining Room by spring 2016.
Many rooms command views of our extensive grounds and service users have the opportunity to customise their rooms with personal belongings (small items of furniture, pictures, TV etc.) to enable them to enjoy an even more homely experience.
Visiting times and involvement in social life and activities:
Our residents’ friends and relatives may visit as frequently as they like at reasonably convenient times. Friends and relatives are also invited to join the home for outings, activities, celebrations and special occasions.
DELICIOUS FOOD HERE AT MELLIFONT
Here at Mellifont Abbey we recognise the importance of good quality, home from home cooked meals. Our chef prepares food on the premises using fresh locally sourced products that bring the residents delicious tasty fresh meals.
A choice of menu is available daily. Meals are wholesome and nutritious and there is always a good balance of home cooked and ready prepared food, with fresh fruit and vegetables available daily, meat locally sourced from a butchers in Wells and options for those with special dietary requirements are also provided for.
Residents are encouraged to socialise by having tea, coffee and meals in the communal lounge and dining room areas, however, personal wishes for privacy are always respected.
We have an amazing chef here at Mellifont and will always go the extra mile for the residents, he even makes cakes for residents and staff on special occasions. There isn’t anything our chef can’t rustle up.
