We are a family run business and feel that the homely environment in Mellifont makes it a very comfortable place to live.
Dating from the 13th Century, Mellifont Abbey is a beautifully preserved picture of England’s glorious past nestled in the surroundings of the Mendip Hills.
The River Axe runs through our spacious grounds and our three acres of landscaped gardens allow for wonderful walks and spectacular views from a number of our residents rooms.
The home has 28 fully furnished bedrooms, a large communal lounge, dining room, snug area and a newly fitted TV room as well as ample parking for visitors.
Mellifont Abbey is owned by the two directors Michele Aldrich and her son Lee Aldrich, who occupy the roles of Registered Manager and Maintenance Property Director in that order. They are ably assisted in the successful operation of the home by experienced and qualified care staff, day and night, alongside cooks and ancillary staff.
The aim of the management is to provide a comfortable, safe, loving and caring environment. All residents have the total freedom to exercise choice and make wholly informed decisions. It is the management’s objective to provide privacy, recognise dignity, help with independence, encourage free will within safe limits, uphold human rights and support the fulfillment of each resident, to whatever level their ability will allow.
Lee and his team are here to ensure the upkeep of Mellifont Abbey to the best of their abilities, and any problems with the grounds or property are sent directly to them. Lee has a groundsman who attends to the stunning 3 acres of land, and also has a fruit and vegetable patch where he tries to encourage residents to get involved.
