We are a family run business and we feel that the homely role in Mellifont makes it feel a very comfortable environment to live in.

Dating from  the 13th Century, Mellifont Abbey is a beautifully preserved picture of England’s glorious past nestled in the surroundings of the Mendip Hills.

The River Axe runs through our spacious grounds and our three acres of landscaped gardens allow for wonderful walks and spectacular views from a number of our residents rooms.

The home has 23 fully furnished bedrooms along with a variety of different communal areas. There is a large, spacious and newly refurbished dining room. We have a communal TV lounge with freeview television and plenty of seating for groups at a time. The study has been newly-decorated and redesigned with leather sofas to read, listen to the vinyl player and enjoy the warmth from the restored fireplace. There is a decking area where the residents can enjoying the sunshine and an ice cream on a sunny day and all residents are able to head into the beautiful grounds to explore the trees and flowers.

Mellifont Abbey is owned by the two directors, Michele Aldrich and her son Lee Aldrich, who occupy the roles of both Registered Manager/Maintenance Property Director. They are ably assisted in the successful operation of the home by experienced and qualified care staff, day and night, alongside cooks and ancillary staff.

The aim of the management is to provide a comfortable, safe, loving and caring environment. All service users have the freedom to exercise choice and make informed decisions. It is the Managements objectives to provide privacy, recognise dignity, help with independence, encourage freewill within safe limits, uphold human rights and support the fulfillment of each resident, to whatever level their ability or disability will allow.

Lee and his team are here to ensure the upkeep of Mellifont Abbey is to the best of their abilities and any problems are notified to them. The maintenance team are always on hand to fix any problems within the home and to keep the grounds looking fantastic for all to enjoy.
