We are a family run business and feel that the homely role in Mellifont makes it feel a very comfortable environment to live in.
Dating from the 13th Century, Mellifont Abbey is a beautifully preserved picture of England’s glorious past nestled in the surroundings of the Mendip Hills.
The River Axe runs through our spacious grounds and our three acres of landscaped gardens allow for wonderful walks and spectacular views from a number of our residents rooms.
The home has 28 fully furnished bedrooms and a large communal lounge, dining room and snug area as well as ample parking for visitors.
Mellifont Abbey is owned by the two directors Michele Aldrich and her son Lee Aldrich, who occupy the roles of both Registered Manager/Maintenance Property Director. They are ably assisted in the successful operation of the home by experienced and qualified care staff, day and night, alongside cooks and ancillary staff.
The aim of the management is to provide a comfortable, safe, loving and caring environment. All service users have the freedom to exercise choice and make informed decisions. It is the Managements objectives to provide privacy, recognise dignity, help with independence, encourage freewill within safe limits, uphold human rights and support the fulfilment of each resident, to whatever level their ability or disability will allow.
Lee and his team are here to ensure the upkeep of Mellifont Abbey is to the best of their abilities and any problems are notified to them. Lee has a grounds man who attends to the stunning 3 acres of land and also has a fruit and vegetable patch where he tries to encourage residents to get involved.
